Project Description :

Mega Streets Project of Greater Chennai Corporation focuses on detailed street network plan and detailed design for a total length of around 110 km of streets in various packages in Chennai. CUBE along with IBI Group has been awarded the Velachery Package comprising of a road length of 15.29 Km. It involves designing of complete streets - inclusive for all road users, focusing on NMT (Non Motorised Transport) by incorporating three aspects of design, namely, Livability, Mobility & Utility.

Key Highlights:

Project aims to redesign and develop NMT-friendly streets in Chennai, incorporating mobility, utility, and livability aspects.Design strategies such as Sustainable Urban Drainage System (SuDS) and Sidewalk Zoning have been successfully incorporated for environmental responsibility.Environmental & Social Management Plan wrt World Bank safeguard policies ensures effective management of potential environmental and social risks, minimizing negative impacts on communities.Involvement of World Bank officials as funding agency has led to frequent reviews that have helped advance the quality of project deliverables to a high standard.Partnership with IBI created a collaborative environment, encouraging cross-functional learning and innovation.Effective change management was achieved while coordinating with multiple line departments in approving estimates and managing project scope changes.Stakeholder engagement ensured their needs and expectations were met for project outcomes.The project will have a positive impact on the environment, people, and local businesses, including improved mobility and livability, enhanced community engagement, and increased revenue
