Project Description :

The SIPCOT Irungattukottai Industrial Park is home to primarily Automobile Manufacturing Industries. The project has been conceived to develop areas along the periphery of the park, that provide spectacular views of surrounding ecosystem, natural foreshores and water bodies such as the Chembarambakkam Lake, Thandalam, Keevalore, Katrambakkam , Thandalam Tanks. The development includes Boardwalks and Pathways enabling cycle and pedestrian movement while engaging the visitors with interspersed Themed Outdoor Display Galleries. These galleries will serve as knowledge dissemination areas to the general public on replicable and scalable sustainability best practices to educate and inspire the visitors.

Key Highlights:

The idealogy of the project is focused on reinventing an existing Industrial Park into an Eco-friendly Park with the reinvention and development of Irungattukottai SIPCOT Industrial Park as a Eco-Friendly park embedding principles of sustainability in design to be able to encourage visitors and users to practice sustainability both at personal and community level through knowledge dissemination and community placemaking interventions. This project is unique and brings with it some amount of complexity as the site is a functional industrial park with parallel planned associated activities such as plantation, fencing, water security plan proceeding simultaneously. The approach involves using the principles of sustainability through landscape improvements, developing recreation potential and ecological restoration through imbibing certain applicable concepts of Sponge Cities
